J.Smith+FollowExperience beats a classroom any day got a call from my grandfather last night. He’s 100, and talking to him is always a delight. He told me about his fishing trip. About the really pretty girl at the bait shop. He always loved women—much to my grandma’s chagrin. He wasn’t perfect, believe that. But the one thing I can’t escape is that he thinks I’m the greatest thing that ever walked—because I’m his oldest grandson. Every time before he hangs up, he reminds me that I carry his name. That I need to be honored he gave it to me, that his father gave it to him, and that it’s something to live up to. He’s one of the smartest men I’ve ever known. Never got past eighth grade. Education doesn’t come from school. It comes from life. He lived through the Depression, World War II, saw a son severely wounded in Vietnam—and he still smiles every day at 100. He calls me once a week just to give me a hard time. Love you, Pop-Pop. God bless. Thanks for always being there.#LifeHacks #ExperiencesOverThings listen for more https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/it-s-whatever--6830625212Share
