I Put My Cash Down on the New Tacoma Manual

I was planning to buy a new truck, and sure enough, some friends were asking why I even needed a truck, and others were telling me how terrible the manual transmission is in the new Tacoma and that I should just get an automatic. Well, I decided to put my money where my mouth is. I am finally in a position to retire my GTI to weekend project status, and I really wanted a truck. I have never owned one, and honestly, we do not get enough time on this spinning rock to live with regrets. So, I bought a truck. And guess what? I got the stickshift. It drives like a truck, which is exactly what it is. The clutch is light, the throw is long, and no, I am not shifting like Vin Diesel, but I am shifting gears for myself, and I love it. Thank you, Toyota, for not giving up and dropping the manual from what might be the last pickup truck to offer one. I did my part and bought one. You are welcome. Now go buy one so they keep making them. #ManualTransmission #ToyotaTacoma #TruckLife #Cars

Those days we used to shift gears from the steering wheel 🤔

There was a time when a lot of cars had a manual transmission shifter on the steering column, a setup people called a "three on the tree." The whole point was to get the gear shifter off the floor so you could fit three people comfortably in the front seat. It was a huge deal back then for passenger space. This design was on some cars for decades. Eventually, automatic transmissions became the standard, and the "three on the tree" disappeared. But here is the crazy part. It is making a comeback! A lot of new cars and EVs are putting the shifters back on the steering column for the same reason—to save space. The only difference is they are automatic now. 😂 It's all my fault for being too young, otherwise I would really want to try this kind of car. #Cars #Nostalgia #RetroTech #CarHistory #ManualTransmission #Driving #EVs
