So, it turns out Nintendo insisted that Mario always be a step ahead of Sonic in all the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games promo art! Former Sega dev Hasegawa spilled the beans, saying Nintendo demanded Mario’s foot be in front—even though Sonic’s the “fastest thing alive.” Kind of wild, right?
