Is My Boss Helping or Hovering? The Micromanager Dilemma

I’ve been at my job for a year now—solid pay, awesome coworkers, and a hybrid schedule. But my boss? She’s got me questioning my sanity. She’s in her late 50s, I’m in my early 30s, and every day feels like a masterclass in micromanagement. She wants to be CCed on every email, rewrites my slides, and insists on daily check-ins. I once had to do three dry runs for a presentation, only for her to stop me halfway and give feedback longer than my talk! It’s like, do you want me to lead or just be your assistant? The wild part? She’s genuinely kind and supportive—just obsessed with control. I love my work, but her style is exhausting. Is it just me, or would this drive anyone up the wall? 😅 What would you do if your boss was both your biggest supporter and your biggest headache? 🤔 #workplace #micromanagement #career #JobCareer

When Your Boss Treats You Like a Puppet 🤦‍♂️

Ever feel like your boss is auditioning for the role of "Most Involved Manager"? That’s my life right now. I work at a cozy design agency, and my supervisor, Mark, has made micromanaging his personal mission. He’ll hover over my desk, dissect my project timelines, and even critique the way I organize my sticky notes. I used to love brainstorming new ideas, but now I second-guess every move. It’s like I’m not trusted to do anything on my own! The constant scrutiny is draining my energy, and I’m honestly starting to dread coming in. Has anyone cracked the code on surviving a micromanager? I could really use some advice before I start talking to my plants for moral support. 😅🌱 #OfficeLife #Micromanagement #NeedAdvice #JobCareer

Am I wrong for wanting to quit my new job?

I started a new job at a law firm just 2 months ago, and at first, everything seemed great. I thought I could see myself staying for a while. But then things took a turn. My boss decided to start using Teams to monitor our status. At first, I didn’t want her to see when I was “offline,” so I set my status to unavailable. Big mistake. Less than 5 minutes later, I was flooded with texts and phone calls asking why I wasn’t “online.” 😤 Now, we’re required to have Teams open at all times and show as “available” — even when working from home. It honestly feels like micromanagement. On top of that, my boss lives in another state, never comes to the office, but expects us to be there. And when an attorney is gone for a week, she refuses to let us work from home. All of this combined has made me reconsider if I want to stay. I’ve already started applying to new jobs. Am I overreacting, or do you think I have valid reasons to be unhappy? Would love to hear your thoughts! 💬👇 #JobFrustration #WorkFromHome #Micromanagement #CareerDecisions #JobSearch #JobCareer
