Mysterious Californian Wonderland: Summer Waterfall Cool-Down 💦
Experiencing a waterfall is a must in a hot Californian summer! This is by far one of the most magical and unique waterfall settings I've seen 👼
Located in the northern part of California, near Mt. Shasta, it's a great short trip destination, perfect for a long weekend getaway from the bustling Bay Area.
The cliffs are covered in moss and greenery, creating a lush paradise that evokes feelings of walking through the 'Emerald City'. What's truly amazing is the sprays of water gushing from gaps in the plants, forming a natural curtain of water- no wonder it's playfully referred to as the 'Cave of the Water Curtain'. The misty air is like stepping into a fantasy land 🌿
We ran into a bunch of foreigners and some were even splashing around and swimming in the water. Though it's pretty cold and deep, the size isn't great for swimming. Just by walking alongside the waterfall, you'll forget your fatigue. The cooling mist is life-saving in the summer heat.

We parked outside Cave Spring Resort, took a left at the first junction, and followed Scarlett Way past some residences. A five-minute walk will bring you to the railway tracks.
Turn right onto the railway and keep following it. In about 40-50 minutes, you'll reach a big rock and a train bridge - there's the waterfall! This path doesn't require crossing the river, although it's long, but the railroad has lots of partial rocks to be mindful of. You can walk on the track itself, but watch out for trains ⚠️
Some people also shared another method: Navigate to Hedge Creek Falls, then cross the river to the railway on the other side. The distance is shorter, but crossing the river is tough as the water can be quite cold.
