Uncle Dennis and the Demands That Shocked the Raptors

Back in 2019, reports surfaced that Kawhi Leonard’s adviser — better known as Uncle Dennis — made “unreasonable” requests when meeting with the Raptors during free agency. According to NBC Sports, Leonard’s camp asked for things well outside standard NBA contract negotiations. Some demands were so over the top that even Masai Ujiri, one of the league’s top executives, didn’t have that level of authority. Raptors insiders questioned if Kawhi was ever really considering staying. Adding more smoke: several Clippers scouts were spotted at Raptors games throughout the 2018-19 season, even during the Finals run.
