My neighbor’s alarm is waking me up at 4:30 AM and they just sleep through it.

Every single morning between 4:30 and 5:00 AM, my neighbor’s alarm starts going off right against our shared wall. It’s this incredibly annoying, high-pitched "ding ding" sound mixed with a loud vibration that I can feel through the wall. The worst part is they clearly don't hear it, because it usually blares for a solid 20 to 30 minutes before it finally stops. By the time they actually wake up, I've been lying there wide awake and frustrated for half an hour. I feel like a crazy person just staring at the ceiling listening to it, but I’m not sure how to bring it up since everyone technically has the right to set an alarm. I left a note on his door yesterday since I figured he wasn't home to turn it off, even though I could hear him talking inside at the time. The alarm woke me up again this morning anyway, and I noticed the note is still untouched on his door. It turns out he's just a massive heavy sleeper who is genuinely oblivious to the noise. I’m just hoping he actually reads it soon and tries to be more considerate. #ApartmentLiving #NoiseIssues #SleepDeprived #NeighborProblems

Just found out our breaker has been powering neighbor’s garage for decades. Landlord nextdoor says it’s not their problem. What now?

We bought half of a 100-year-old duplex last year. Everything was great until about two months after moving in, when I noticed a few breakers in our panel didn’t power anything in our unit. I flipped them off. And our neighbors showed up wondering why their garage had no electricity. Turns out, one of their breakers is in our panel and has been powering their garage for who knows how many years Even worse, their wiring is undersized for the breaker, so it’s not even safe. Thankfully the tenants only use it for the garage door and charging a leaf blower battery. So, at that moment, and not to brag, I generously left it on while I texted their landlord. No response. Today they finally replied after I brought it up again. They said they were told it’s been like this for so long that they don’t have to change it, and that she doesn’t have the money right now. Basically, she’s fine with us continuing to supply their power indefinitely. I’d like to keep a good relationship with the neighbors, but this has got to be total bullshit, right? It just feels wrong and potentially dangerous. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? #HomeOwnership #ElectricianLife #DuplexLiving #LandlordIssues #NeighborDrama #NeighborProblems #Home
