Manuel Bright+Followold hunters smoked pipes for a reasonGuilty of lighting up a backwoods before morning hunts, and elk don't seem to care. Always sit around smokey campfires in my hunting clothes too. Last year a buck literally walked up and woke me from my nap under an oak tree - ten yards away! He smelled something and was curious, just didn't think it was human until I made noise. Smoke might not spook them like we think? #hunting #deerhunting #huntinglife #Outdoors 19589Share
Manuel Bright+FollowOops, I probably created some anti-hunters 😬Took my buddy hunting last weekend - he got his second deer ever, a beautiful doe! But here's where I messed up... Went to the car wash the next day to clean deer blood out of my truck bed. Workers peeked over, saw the blood, and their faces went from curious to horrified real quick. I let them stew for a bit before gruffly saying "deer blood." Manager was still shaken but let me through. Made me realize: messing with nonhunters might be funny, but it sure doesn’t help the image of hunters. Lesson learned—next time, I’ll keep the mess (and the jokes) out of town. #hunting #deerhunting #Outdoors 7661335Share
kdiaz+FollowWhy don’t more people eat bass?Tons of folks love catching bass, but not eating them—why is that? I’ve tried it, and it’s... okay, but not amazing. Curious what others think. Is it taste, texture, or just tradition? #fishing #bassfishing #catchandrelease #Outdoors 428693Share
fisherchad+FollowFishing apps ruined my secret childhood spot 😤Had this perfect little bass pond growing up - 2 acres of pure magic tucked behind an old farm. Used to hike through waist-high grass, covered in bug spray, just to reach it. Reliable 4+ pounders and rarely saw another soul. Fast forward to now? First Fishbrain post went up in 2017 with the caption "Not big, but my first bass from this pond." Now there's paved parking, gravel trails, and crowds. I'm lucky to catch a 1-pounder where I used to nail giants. Don't get me wrong - apps help new anglers get hooked faster. But man, watching your childhood honey hole get served up to 14 million users on a silver platter stings. The learning process used to be half the fun. What do you think—are these apps a blessing or a curse for anglers? #fishing #fishingapps #spotburning #bassfishing #fishinglife #outdoors41Share
ChillVibesOnly+FollowHelp Needed: Choosing an Osprey BackpackDaylight 20 or Hacker 18? 🤔 The Daylight has more compartments and can fit more stuff. The Hacker has fewer compartments, but it can still hold enough. The Hacker looks better, but doesn’t really feel suitable for commuting. The Daylight isn’t as stylish as the Hacker, but it’s more practical for commuting. Plus, the Daylight comes with a headscarf and a thermos. Since commuting takes up more time than outdoor use… #Outdoors #WorkLife #BackpackingUSA #BagLover #NeedHelp 10Share
laurenbrown+FollowWild visitor at camp! Is it okay to take one home as a pet? 🤣Met a curious squirrel while camping! This little guy showed up near my camp last month—curious, not afraid at all. A moment I’ll never forget. #MyOutdoorMoment #Camping #Outdoors #NatureLovers110Share
paulcarol+FollowMy kaibab hunt was a comedy of errors 💩Drew that coveted late hunt tag back in '03 and everything went sideways. Day one, passed on a gorgeous 4x4 thinking I'd find better. Spoiler alert: I didn't. Then our makeshift camp toilet collapsed mid-business. Fell right into my own mess 😅 Took an entire roll of TP to recover my dignity. Next morning brought 18 inches of fresh snow and my boot sole completely separated, flooding my foot with slush. Spent three days hunting in sneakers. Final day, same buck reappeared at 409 yards. Missed low. Tag soup for dinner. Sometimes the hunting gods humble you real quick. What's your most disaster-filled hunt? 🤦♂️ #hunting #kaibabhunt #huntingfails #Outdoors 3313Share
Eric Ford+Followthis guy's diy hunting shack has me jealousJust watched this hunter build his own mountain hunting shack with zero construction background. Pure trial and error plus help from his kids made it happen. Total cost? Under $5k! Looks absolutely perfect - surrounded by trees, peaceful as can be. I can already picture myself unwinding there during hunting season, no cell service, just the woods and wildlife. Makes me want to start planning my own little getaway spot. Anyone else dream about having their own hunting retreat? #hunting #huntingcabin #DIY #huntingdreams #outdoors1649Share
bushjill+Followwhy old timers never drink coffee before huntingMy grandpa always said "no coffee before the hunt" and I thought he was crazy. Turns out coffee makes you smell stronger to deer, plus you'll need to pee at the worst possible moment.😂 What's the weirdest hunting advice you've gotten that actually worked? #hunting #huntingtips #outdoors569231Share
bushjill+FollowGrandfather's hog hunting advice still worksBeen hog hunting for years and my grandfather's advice still rings true: "Pin them through the shoulders, and they won't go far." Yesterday had a perfect broadside shot and placed it right through both shoulders. Dropped instantly - no tracking needed. This shot destroys mobility while hitting lungs and often the heart. I run all-copper bullets for the shoulder penetration, but placement is everything. Too high and you miss vitals completely. What's your go-to shot placement on hogs? #hunting #hoghunting #huntingtips #wildboar #Outdoors 6710Share
