When School Discipline Crosses the Line: My Niece’s Lunch Was Taken Away

Today, I’m heartbroken and angry after hearing what happened to my niece at school. She was denied her lunch and made to run laps as punishment. As a family, we teach our kids about kindness and respect, so it’s devastating to see a child treated this way by adults who are supposed to care for them. No child should ever be shamed or go hungry at school. This experience has left our whole family shaken and questioning how discipline is handled in our schools. Have you ever faced something similar with your child or a loved one? Let’s talk about how we can advocate for our kids and ensure they’re treated with dignity. Are We Failing Our Kids' Reading?

Alright, real talk: Why does it seem like some parents don’t care that their kids are lagging in reading? I mean, shouldn’t this be a huge red flag? Reading is like the foundation of everything—without it, they’ll struggle with, well, everything else! I know life gets busy, and not everyone can sit down with their kid and a book every night, but c’mon, it’s 2023, and we have all this technology that could help. Audiobooks, reading apps, eBooks—you name it. Is it about not caring, or is it just feeling too overwhelmed to start? I’ve seen kids who are 10, 11 years old, and when you hand them a book, they stare at it like it’s an ancient artifact. It’s frustrating! I just wish parents would realize they have such a powerful role to play here. I guess we all need to step it up and talk about this stuff more openly before it gets even more out of hand. #ReadingAgeChallenge #WakeUpCall #ParentingMatters
