🌲 Exploring Uvas Canyon County Park 🌲
Located in the South San Francisco Bay Area, Uvas Canyon County Park is a hidden gem that I just can't get enough of! 🏞️ Nestled in a picturesque forested canyon, the park is home to an enchanting feature - seven stunning waterfalls, ranging from 10 to 55 feet in height. 💦
Here's everything you need to know to plan your visit:
When to Go:
✨ The best time to see the falls in their full glory is right after a significant rainfall, when the creeks are flowing at their peak. 🌧️
Key Information:
1️⃣ To avoid disappointment, be sure to book your parking spot in the park at least a week in advance, particularly during the high season from the end of January to June.
2️⃣ The parking fee for the day is $6.
3️⃣ You can find the trail map on the Official park page for easy navigation during your hike.
4️⃣ Uvas Canyon County Park is conveniently located around 28 miles or a 40-minute drive from San Jose, or 75 miles and around 1.5 hours from San Francisco.
5️⃣ Keep in mind that the park may have limited or no cell service, so come prepared.
Hiking and Camping:
6️⃣ If you're feeling adventurous, camping is available within the park for a memorable outdoor experience.
7️⃣ To make the most of your visit and see all the falls in one hike, follow this trail route:
- Start with Alec Trail to Triple Falls (~1.3 miles)
- Return to Contour Trail to Upper Falls (~2 miles)
- Visit Basin and Black Falls (less than 0.2 miles)
- From Black Falls, follow the Waterfall Loop path closer to the stream (less than 0.1 miles)
- Continue to Little Falls and then Granuja Falls (~0.5 miles)
- Walk Swanson Creek Trail to Lower Falls (0.26 miles)
- Return to the parking lot via Swanson Creek Trail, or explore Uvas Creek Trail to the Campground (~3 miles)
Water Flow and Triple Falls:
🌊 For the most impressive water flow in all the falls, plan your visit after a significant rain. However, do note that Triple Falls can be almost dry for most of the year.
