My First ER Experience - Surprised by the Bills
Accompanying my brother to the ER was a real eye-opener. He had a nasty fall while cycling, hitting his abdomen hard. Concerned about internal bleeding, we rushed to the nearest Urgent Care. After a preliminary check, they recommended an ultrasound or CT scan but couldn't perform these tests on a Sunday. Off we went to another hospital.
Upon arrival at Rady's Children's Hospital, the process was swift. A nurse led my brother straight to the ER, where a team of professionals sprang into action. Blood tests, heart rate monitoring, ultrasounds, and even a CT scan followed. A staff member stayed by his side to offer comfort. The ultrasound showed no serious issues, but we still had to wait for the CT results.
The bill, however, was alarming. With a 2000 deductible and 103000. I can't help but wonder if all these tests were necessary or if we're being overcharged. Is it possible to dispute these charges?
