Perfect Cuppa Every Time: My Step-by-Step Tea Routine
Always start with fresh, cold water—filtered or spring water makes a real difference. Avoid using water that’s been boiled before; it loses oxygen and just doesn’t taste as good.
Heat your kettle until it boils. If you’re brewing green tea, let the water cool for a minute before pouring. For black tea, use it right off the boil.
Rinse your cup with hot water to warm it up. This keeps your tea hotter for longer.
Add your tea bag or loose tea (about a teaspoon per cup). Pour in the hot water, filling the cup about 4/5 full. If you like milk, you can add it before or after—totally up to you.
Steep according to the type: green tea for 1 minute, black tea for 3-6, oolong for 6-8, and herbal for 8-12. Don’t over-steep; just use more tea if you want it stronger.
Remove the tea bag, add sweetener if you want, and enjoy with a snack!
