Cats hijacked my show, became internet stars
Started recording a simple pet care podcast from home. Big mistake. My two cats, Pixel and Mochi, decided every recording session was their personal stage time. Pixel would yell directly into the microphone mid-sentence, while Mochi preferred the subtle art of knocking things over during important points.
Instead of editing them out, I left it in as a joke. Comments started pouring in: "Pixel's commentary is better than most human podcasters," "Mochi's timing is comedic gold," "More cats, less human!"
Now I'm basically their unpaid assistant. They have their own Instagram, sponsorship deals, and somehow better social media engagement than I ever did. Pixel reviews cat toys like a food critic, and Mochi's silent judgmental stares have become memes.
The irony? I started this to share my expertise. Now I'm known as "that person whose cats are funnier than they are." And honestly? Worth it.
