When My Dog Wouldn’t Stop Scratching, Here’s What I Learned
A few weeks ago, I noticed my dog, Bailey, was constantly scratching—behind her ears, along her belly, even her paws. At first, I thought it was just dry skin or maybe a reaction to the change in weather. But then she started chewing at herself, leaving little red patches behind.
That’s when I knew it wasn’t just a passing itch.
We headed to the vet, and it turns out there are quite a few reasons dogs itch like crazy—everything from allergies to skin infections, parasites, or even more serious issues like liver disease. In Bailey’s case, it was a skin allergy triggered by something in her environment. A round of medication and a few lifestyle changes later, and she’s back to her happy, itch-free self.
The biggest lesson? Don’t wait. Scratching might seem harmless, but it can lead to real damage fast.
