Work Conference Travel Day Attire Dilemma

Got an awesome, expenses-paid trip coming up for a conference abroad, and I'm pretty stoked. My main wardrobe is sorted, but this travel day has me completely thrown off. Day one is purely for travel, no professional duties until day two. The last thing I want to do is wear something super dressy on the plane – it'll just wrinkle, I'll probably sweat, and frankly, I'll just feel sloppy. So are shorts okay for the travel day? I'm really trying to avoid jeans in the summer heat if I can. Is that okay?
