A Romantic Journey on the California Zephyr

Embarking on the California Zephyr is like stepping into a moving painting. Departing from the Bay Area near San Francisco, this 51-hour journey takes you all the way to the Windy City of Chicago. I hopped off in Denver after 33 hours, and what a ride it was! From the familiar Californian farmlands and Tahoe's snow-capped peaks to Nevada's deserts, Utah's rugged wilderness, and the breathtaking sunsets over Colorado's Rocky Mountains, the train offers a panoramic view of the West's charm. I spent most of my time in the Sightseer Lounge Car, snapping photos of the ever-changing scenery. The Roomette ticket I purchased provided a cozy compartment that transformed into a bunk bed at night. Solo travelers like me got the lower bunk, while couples might prefer the Bedroom for its privacy and private bathroom. Meals are included with your ticket, and the menu is consistent nationwide. Breakfast and lunch are on-demand, but dinner requires a reservation—keep an ear out for the announcements. Coffee and water are always available.
