When Hunger Feels Like Failure
It’s day one. I open the fridge, pretending I’m just looking for water. My stomach is full, but my mind is louder. I count the snacks I’ve already had—then eat another, standing in the kitchen with the light off, hoping it doesn’t count if no one sees me.
I tell myself it’s hormones, that it’s normal, but every bite feels like a broken promise. I scroll past posts about willpower and discipline, wondering if anyone else feels this out of control. I wish I could just be hungry without guilt, but I keep thinking: if I give in now, what does that say about me?
Some days, the hardest part isn’t the hunger. It’s the shame that comes after.
