Adopting a Senior Cat: Am I Ready for This?

So, there’s this 11-year-old cat at the shelter who’s basically a local legend. Two years in a tiny room, watching younger cats come and go. Her human passed away, and now she’s stuck in limbo, quietly judging everyone from her favorite perch. I keep thinking: if I don’t take her, who will? She’s not a kitten, she’s got a bit of an attitude, and her hobbies include napping and ignoring people. But honestly, same. Maybe we’d get along. I’m not sure if I’m rescuing her or if she’s rescuing me from another year of scrolling past sad shelter posts. Is it wild to bring home a cat who’s seen more of life than I have? Maybe. But someone’s gotta give her a soft landing. Why not me? Anyone else adopted a senior pet? Tell me it’s worth it. Or at least that I won’t regret the cat hair on everything. #AdoptDontShop #SeniorCatLove #RescuePets #Pets #Cats

So I walked into the animal shelter with a plan: just browse, maybe pet a cat or two, definitely not make any life-altering decisions. Fast forward 30 minutes, and I’m signing adoption papers for not one, but two tiny chaos machines. Apparently, these siblings had a pact—if one gets picked, the other must tag along. I tried to resist, but their combined power (big eyes, synchronized purring, coordinated head tilts) was too much. Now my apartment is their playground, my plants are their snacks, and my sleep schedule is a distant memory. Zero regrets, though. They’ve already claimed my lap, my heart, and every cardboard box in sight. Moral of the story: you don’t choose the cats, the cats choose you. And sometimes, they come in pairs. Anyone else been outsmarted by shelter pets? #AdoptDontShop #CatLife #RescuePets #Pets #Cats
