I’d roll my eyes at their warnings and feel like they were just trying to control me. But deep down, I knew they were coming from a place of love and experience. I started to notice the little things they did for me—making dinner after a long day, staying up late to help with homework, or just listening when I needed to vent. Still, our differences in opinions would lead to arguments, and I’d end up feeling guilty for snapping at them. I wondered if anyone else struggled to balance gratitude and independence.
