Retired at 50 with $1M—Now I’m Worried About Running Out! 😰

I retired at 50 with $1 million saved up, thinking I’d cracked the code. Using the 4% rule, I started withdrawing $40,000 a year, hoping my nest egg would last. At first, it felt amazing—no more office politics, stressful meetings, or endless deadlines. But now, 5 years in, I’m starting to worry. The market’s been up and down, and some years my portfolio barely grew. I keep wondering if I made a mistake, especially when unexpected expenses pop up. Did anyone else retire early using the 4% rule? Is your fund holding up, or are you seeing it shrink? I’m really anxious about running out of money before I’m ready. Any advice or feedback from those who’ve been through this would mean the world to me! 🙏 #EarlyRetirement #FinancialPlanning #RetirementAdvice #JobCareer #Career

Should I Tell My Boss I'm Retiring Soon? I'm Stressed! 😰

Hey friends, I could really use your advice. I’m turning 65 in September and planning to retire at the end of the month. I work at a mid-sized auto parts plant in Texas, and I’m the only CAD designer in our small engineering team. The company’s been great to me, and I don’t want to leave them scrambling to fill my spot. I’ve actually got someone in mind for my replacement—he’s a former coworker who already knows most of the ropes. But I haven’t told my boss or HR anything yet, and I’m stressing about the right time to break the news. Six months feels too long, but I don’t want to leave them in a bind either. I remember how tough it was when I started, and I want to make the transition as smooth as possible. How much notice did you give when you retired? Any tips for making this easier? I’m really torn and could use some guidance! 🙏 #RetirementAdvice #WorkplaceTransition #CareerQuestions #JobCareer #Career
