Roommate's Parenthood Predicament
I'm a junior, and my dorm has seen an unexpected turn of events. A girl in our dorm got pregnant and, against all odds, married the father and had a baby. After the wedding, she left the dorm but recently moved back when she found out about her husband's infidelity.
We felt sorry for her as she juggled her baby and belongings, so we offered help. She mentioned moving out to avoid disturbing us but kept finding excuses about the cost or quality of off-campus housing. Now, her baby's cries disrupt our sleep, and we're at a loss.
We tried discussing the issue, suggesting she ask her family or the father to take care of the baby during the day to ensure we all get some rest. Surprisingly, she said she couldn't manage alone and was worried about the baby's safety with the father.
In a long discussion, she proposed we take turns babysitting. We're sympathetic but feel it's too much to ask. How do we handle this while maintaining our peace?
