Al Horford has the same issue that sidelined LeBron early this season
Al Horford is dealing with sciatica, the same nerve issue that knocked LeBron out earlier this season — and he says it’s been “very tricky.”
The 39-year-old said he’s ramping up activity in practice and feels good, but is still about a week away from playing. The hardest part, according to Horford, has been the stop-start nature of the rehab and the patience it requires.
“This one’s different,” Horford said. “Nerve issues aren’t like muscle injuries. That’s what makes it tough.”
It’s been a frustrating start in Golden State. Horford has played just 13 games, doesn’t play back-to-backs, and is putting up career lows (5.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 29.8% from three). His last appearance was Dec. 4 vs Philly, when he started, played 18 minutes, and felt something go wrong late — after which his condition regressed and the medical staff shut him down to protect him.
