Grandparent Time Feels Like a Negotiation 🤷♀️
Ever feel like spending time with your grandchild requires a lawyer and a calendar? My son became a dad at just 18, and while he’s stepped up in every way, getting quality time with his baby girl is like pulling teeth. The baby’s mom lives an hour away and, honestly, she’s never made it easy for us to be involved.
We’re grateful my son’s name is on the birth certificate, but visits are always at her place, and only for an hour or so. When we finally asked if the baby could come to our home, she agreed—but only if she and her mom tagged along. I get it, but sometimes it feels like we’re being watched, not trusted. My son’s bought everything the baby could need, and we just want a little time to bond as a family.
Does anyone else feel like family time is a constant negotiation? How did you handle it? I’d love to hear your stories and advice—sometimes it feels like we’re the only ones juggling these emotions. 🍼💔
