Cleveland’s Dead Man’s Curve may get a SmartLane

Imagine cruising through Dead Man’s Curve on I-90 and seeing the left shoulder open up as a bonus lane during rush hour. That’s what ODOT is considering with a new SmartLane—something only Columbus and Cincinnati have right now. Instead of building new lanes, they’d let drivers use the shoulder when traffic jams up, but everyone would have to slow down. It’s not funded or approved yet, but if it happens, it could totally change how we deal with downtown Cleveland’s worst bottleneck.
