We Need to Talk: Mental Illness, Medication, and Spirituality

I’ve been defending the use of medication for mental illness way too often lately, and honestly, I’m furious. These meds save lives. You wouldn’t tell someone with a heart condition to ditch their meds, so why is it okay to tell someone with mental illness to do the same? Some of these medications are serious business—quitting them suddenly can have devastating consequences, including suicide. Spirituality and medication are not opposites.
