hiking alone at the temple of apollo in delphi
I finally made it to the top of the Temple of Apollo in Delphi, Greece, and would you believe it—there wasn’t a single other soul around. The ancient stones were glowing in the afternoon sun, and the whole place felt like it was holding its breath. I thought I’d be sharing the view with a crowd, but it was just me, the ruins, and the mountains stretching out forever.
Honestly, it was both magical and a little unsettling. On one hand, I could take in every detail without anyone blocking my view or talking over the silence. On the other, I kept wondering if I’d missed a sign or if there was some reason everyone else stayed away. It’s not every day you get a world-famous spot all to yourself—especially one that’s usually packed with tourists.
Has anyone else ever had a place like this all to themselves and felt both lucky and a bit suspicious? Part of me loved the peace, but another part couldn’t help but worry I’d show up in someone’s travel horror story. Maybe I’m just too used to crowds!
