Shakespeare in the Park tips? Planning my first attempt this summer!

I’ve finally decided this is the year I actually make it to Shakespeare in the Park instead of just talking about it. My friend went last summer and said most people line up around 6am and basically camp out in the park all morning waiting for tickets. That sounds… intense? I’m wondering if anyone here has actually done the whole early morning line thing and can give me the real scoop. Like: Is 6am actually early enough or should I get there earlier? What do you even DO for 4-5 hours waiting in line? Should I bring food? A chair? #theater #ShakespeareinthePark

For anyone stressing about what to wear to the theater

There is no dress code. None. Zero. I promise you. I’ve been to probably 50+ shows over the years, and I’ve sat next to people in everything from full evening gowns to workout clothes to jeans and sneakers. Nobody cares. The ushers don’t care. The other audience members don’t care. The actors definitely don’t care—they just want you there enjoying the show. I like to dress up a bit because it makes the whole thing feel more special to me. Like, going to see Hamilton in a nice dress and heels puts me in a different headspace than if I rolled up in my everyday clothes. But that’s just MY thing. My friend literally wore athleisure to Chicago last month because she was coming straight from the gym, she had just as good a time as everyone else. The only real rule is: wear something you can sit comfortably in for 2-3 hours. That’s it. #Theater #DressCode

What is your most favorite musical you have ever seen?

I will DIE on the hill that Jesus Christ Superstar is a masterpiece, though I’m not religious at all. People always look at me sideways when I tell them I’m obsessed with a show about Jesus. But here’s the thing—you don’t have to be Christian to appreciate incredible storytelling about power, betrayal, celebrity, and what happens when regular people get caught up in something way bigger than themselves. It’s timeless. #Theater
