To be honest or not in my exit interview?
Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’ve been at my current job for 7 years, and in October, I took what seemed like a perfect new role. But things took a turn. Two months in, my original boss got promoted to the executive level, and I was assigned an interim boss while they searched for a new VP.
That new VP started in late February, and let’s just say, he’s not a great fit. He’s harsh, berates the team constantly, and refuses to offer guidance. I’ve had breakdowns because of how he treats me, and it’s clear I’m not the only one feeling this way.
I’ve found a new job that’s a promotion, and I plan to give my notice. They do exit interviews, and I’m torn about being honest. Should I tell them that the toxic boss and the last-minute change in leadership are why I’m leaving? Or should I just keep quiet?
