The Coast Was Wild. I Was Restless.
I used to think travel meant crossing borders, collecting stamps, running from one place to the next. But Australia shut its doors, and suddenly the only horizon left was the southern coast of Victoria—a place I’d always ignored because it was too close, too familiar, too much like home.
Turns out, standing on a wind-beaten cliff with salt in my mouth and no one else around, I felt more lost than I ever did in a foreign city. The ocean was loud, the rocks were sharp, and my thoughts were louder. I kept waiting for the landscape to change me, but all it did was hold up a mirror. Sometimes, the hardest place to explore is the one you thought you already knew.
