Venice Was Beautiful. I Felt Invisible.

Venice is supposed to be magic. Everyone says so. I turned a corner, expecting another crowd, and instead found a square so quiet it felt staged. The light was perfect, the stones old and uneven, the air thick with the kind of stillness you only notice when you’re alone. I took a photo, but didn’t post it. It looked like a painting, but I didn’t feel like I belonged in it. I stood there, wishing someone I loved could see it too, or that I could feel the awe I thought I was supposed to.
