What is the best advice your father ever gave you?

My father always said, "Your thoughts are limited by your vocabulary." It totally set me on this path. I started reading everything I could get my hands on. I actually fell in love with dictionaries and just building my vocabulary. I even started really enjoying word-play and trying to write and speak better. It completely expanded how I understood the world. It also gave me this amazing ability to truly appreciate the subtle and refined thoughts of other people when they wrote things down. This whole journey has been super central to how my personality has changed over the last 20 years since that afternoon. *** The more words you know, the better your brain actually works.
