I Didn’t Find Myself on the Alpe Adria Trail

I thought hiking Slovenia would be a reset. Instead, I counted blisters and hours, not epiphanies. The trail was green and endless, but my mind kept circling the same old anxieties—what comes next, who I’m supposed to be, why I thought a new country would change anything. I met other hikers who moved with purpose, like they knew where they were going, on the map and in life. I envied them. I envied their dry socks. At night, I scrolled through photos I didn’t post, trying to convince myself I was living the dream. But the truth: sometimes the most beautiful places just make you feel more lost.
