My beloved dog died, and my boss removed me from the project team 😳
So, here I am—a 26-year-old guy, fresh in my research assistant role, and I just made a mistake that the whole team knows about. On my day off, I got an email saying my citations in a grant draft were all wrong. Out of 90, 10 were flagged, and my boss publicly commented things like “no no no” and “AGHH.” Ouch, right?
I was already having a rough week—my dog had just passed away, and I was volunteering extra hours to help out. I thought I was being helpful, but now I’m embarrassed and totally anxious. My boss told everyone I shouldn’t touch the project anymore, and I feel like I’ve let everyone down.
I apologized, but I’m still mortified. How do you bounce back from a mistake everyone sees? Is there any way to rebuild trust after a public flop like this? Any advice would mean the world right now. 😔🐾
