Hiking etiquette: Nobody likes your music
Well, I’ll tell ya straight up — when I’m out hiking, I’m there for the fresh air, the crunch of the trail under my boots, maybe the birds singing if I’m lucky. What I don’t need is somebody blasting their playlist like it’s a tailgate party. Don’t get me wrong, I love music — I grew up on classic rock and a bit of country — but there’s a time and place for it. Out on the trail, it just doesn’t fit.
Hiking etiquette’s simple: you respect the land, you respect the wildlife, and you respect the folks sharing the path with you. Earbuds exist for a reason. If you want the soundtrack to your hike, plug in. If not, let nature be the soundtrack. That’s the way I see it.
