Andorra is a small, beautiful, and picturesque country, but my experience with hospitality here has been disappointing. Service in many restaurants feels poor—staff often seem unwilling to communicate in English, preferring Catalan or Spanish. When asking for an English menu, the reaction can be dismissive, even to the point of eye-rolling.
Finding places that are actually open and serving food can also be challenging. Restaurants tend to operate on very limited schedules, opening only for a few hours at lunch and then closing until around 8 PM for dinner. Before that time, it’s often impossible to order food—only drinks are available.
Compared to places like Portugal, where people are generally warm and welcoming, the attitude here feels noticeably less friendly. While Andorra is often described as a duty-free shopping haven, prices are not significantly lower than in other European countries, which adds to the sense that expectations don’t match reality.
Overall, despite its natural beauty, the hospitality experience here leaves a lot to be desired.
The schedule for restaurants here: lunch from 1pm to 3:30pm. Closed mid afternoon. Dinner starts at 8pm. Kitchens often literally close, so they won’t serve food even if you’re there. English is rarely used unless in ski resorts area during winter. Honestly, talking about small principalities like Luxembourg or Andorra. Luxembourg is more friendlier. #Andorra #andorralavella
