my usually chill cat went full wild mode. She hissed, puffed up, and even swatted at me. I froze, totally shocked. Instead of grabbing her, I backed off and gave her space. I remembered that getting close would just make her more freaked out.
I tossed her favorite toy across the room to distract her, and it actually worked—she chased it instead of my ankles. After things calmed down, I left her alone in her safe spot with some treats and a cozy blanket. Later, I realized she’d been stressed by a new pet in the house.
Now, I always watch for those warning signs—big eyes, flat ears, tail flicking. If she starts acting tense, I let her chill out and reward her when she’s calm. It’s all about patience and understanding what sets her off.
