โThe Thief vs. The Full Lifeโ
๐โThe thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.โ John 10:10 NIV
Recovery shows us this verse in real time!
The thief is addiction, shame, trauma, and old patterns.
It steals your time. It kills your hope.
It destroys relationships โ with yourself, your kids, your God.
Jesus came for the opposite....life to the full.
Notice it doesnโt say โeasyโ or โpeachy keen.โ _Full_ means the whole range.... joy, grief, boredom, healing, dishes, belly laughs with your kids, hard conversations, peace that shows up in the middle of chaos.
For us adults in recovery ๐
Full life means we donโt have to numb the bad to feel the good.
We get to be present.
We get to rebuild. We get to say โthe thief had me, but he doesnโt own me.โ
Us adults have kids we raise, foster or even mentor/ coach,
Theyโve seen the thief too.
When we choose full life, we show them itโs possible. โYeah, bedtime is hard and Mom gets overwhelmed. But we donโt quit. We breathe, we pray, we try again.โ Thatโs full life in sneakers.
How can we practice it today?
First. Spot the thief โ> Name one thing trying to steal your peace right now.
Second. Choose full โ> Whatโs one small thing thatโs _life_ today?
A hug, a prayer, finishing one task.
Third. Tell a child โ> โThe thief wants me to give up. Jesus says I can have full life. So Iโm gonna keep going.โ
Recovery is work. Full life isnโt perfect life. But itโs yours. The thief already lost.
๐Whatโs the thief trying to steal from you today?
๐ Whatโs one piece of โfullโ youโll claim instead?
