At first I bought it just out of curiosity, thinking it might save me time and energy, but over the years it’s become part of my routine. I’ve had hunts where the bike made everything easier, and others where I ended up dragging both a deer and the damn bike out of the mountains. Here’s what I’ve learned along the way: ✅ Works great in mild terrain or rolling hills ✅ Can save serious time in areas with vehicle restrictions ⚠️ Struggles in steep backcountry—hauling a deer and the bike out was brutal ⚠️ Watch for cheap brands; they can break down or worse Honestly, I’ve packed out a deer on the same bike I use for school runs with my kid. But in Colorado’s steep country? Total hassle. Spent more energy dragging it around than hiking would've taken —nothing worse than a flat tire 5 miles deep.
