How I Spot Female vs. Male Marijuana Plants (And Why It Matters!)
Let me take you on a little journey through my own greenhouse in sunny Arizona. 🌞 If you’re like me, you crave those potent, resinous buds—so you need to know the secret to telling female from male marijuana plants! At first, all my plants looked the same. But after about six weeks, the magic happens: females grow bushier, with delicate, translucent hairs (pistils) at the joints, while males stand taller with thicker stalks and fewer leaves, showing off little pollen sacs instead.
Here’s the kicker: one sneaky male can ruin your entire harvest by pollinating the females, turning your dreams of THC-rich buds into a field of seeds. Ouch! 😱 So, I check every plant, every week, and if I spot a male (or a hermaphrodite), I gently move it far, far away. Some say feminized seeds are foolproof, but trust me, surprises happen!
