Baking Soda on Hair: Miracle Cleanse or Recipe for Regret?

A few years ago, I dumped a spoonful of baking soda into my palm, ready for that squeaky-clean, Pinterest-worthy hair moment. Spoiler: my scalp was not amused. Here’s what I wish I’d known before going full DIY chemist: 🧪 Baking soda is super alkaline—great for scrubbing pots, not so much for your delicate strands. Expect dryness, frizz, and maybe even a little scalp drama if you go overboard. 💧 Diluting with water or mixing with vinegar? It won’t save your hair from the pH rollercoaster. The damage risk is still real. 🧴 For buildup, it works—but only as a rare reset, not a weekly ritual. Think once a month, max, and always follow with a deep conditioner. If you’re tempted, patch test first and skip it if your hair is colored, thin, or your scalp is sensitive. Would you risk it for a one-time shine, or stick to gentler options? #haircaretruths #naturalhairfail #beautyexperiments #hairhealth #Beauty

5 signs to look for whether your hair has been damaged! 💇‍♀️

How to tell if your hair might be damaged? Knowing the signs is the first step to getting your hair back on track Here are 5 common signs of damaged hair: 1️⃣ Dry Hair: Does your hair and scalp feel dry and brittle? This often leads to breakage and a rough texture. Solution: Combat dryness by moisturizing and sealing your hair often. This means using both a moisturizer and an oil or butter to keep it hydrated. 2️⃣ Frizz: Frizzy hair is frequently a result of dryness or being handled too roughly. It happens when the hair's outermost layer, the cuticle, doesn't lie flat. Solution: Try using a bit of cool water when rinsing out your conditioner; it helps close the cuticle and flatten those layers. 3️⃣ Noticeable Breakage: While some breakage is normal, it becomes a problem when it's noticeable. Everyday styling, or even your hair rubbing against clothing, can cause this. Solution: Protective styling is an excellent way to prevent breakage. 4️⃣ Breaking Point: Does your hair seem to grow to a certain length and then consistently break off? Often, culprits are clothing items like big scarves or hats, which cause friction. Solution: Wearing your hair off your shoulders and frequent moisturizing can help you get past that breaking point. 5️⃣ Faded Color: Sometimes, color fading isn't your direct fault. If you spend a lot of time in the sun or outdoors, you might notice your color dulling. Fading color often goes hand-in-hand with dry and frizzy hair. Solution: Be sure to use a color-safe shampoo or an all-natural cleanser. Are you noticing any of these signs in your hair? 👀👀 Share them, let's figure out how to fix them together! #HairCare #DamagedHair #HairHealth #BeautyTips #HairBreakage #FrizzyHair #DryHair #HealthyHairJourney #HairProblems

How to get rid of white hairs 🧑‍🦳 (I'm not saying coloring your hair)

Seeing those first white hairs can be a bit of a shock... While some things are just genetics, I believe there are ways to support your natural hair color without dye. First, eat for healthy hair. Make sure your diet includes plenty of lean protein, fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Focus on Vitamin B12, zinc, and biotin (very important for healthy, naturally-colored hair), found in foods like oats and almonds. Also, massage your scalp regularly to boost blood flow, maybe with almond or coconut oil. And ditch bad hair products full of chemicals that weaken roots. If you smoke, consider quitting. Studies show smokers are much more likely to have white hair. 😂 Lastly, you might hear about Melancor, a tablet claiming to restore hair color by stimulating melanin. However, there's no solid scientific proof it works, so proceed with caution and be aware of potential side effects or lack of results. #HairHealth #WhiteHair #HairCare #NaturalHair

Please be careful, Olaplex absolutely destroyed my healthy hair 😢

I had long, healthy, natural hair with no bleach or heat. Around the time Olaplex blew up on TikTok, I tried it for dryness, buying into the hype of "stronger, shinier hair." Initially, it felt amazing, but slowly, my hair started breaking off, literally down to the scalp. It was horrifying; my once thick hair became fragile and thin. My hairdresser finally identified the cause: "It was Olaplex." She explained it's heavily misunderstood and meant for damaged or color-treated hair. On already healthy hair, it can "over-proteinize" strands, making them brittle and leading to severe breakage. She believes their marketing is completely misleading. I'm devastated, having to start all over with severely damaged hair. Please, if your hair is healthy and untreated, think twice before using Olaplex. What works for someone with bleached hair might seriously harm yours. I'm sharing so no one else goes through this. 💔 #Olaplex #HairDamage #HealthyHairJourney #ProductReview #HairCare #ConsumerBeware #HairHealth #Warning
