Manuel Bright+FollowI tried 4 hog methods in Texas last weekJust got back from an epic hog hunt and wanted to share what's been working for me this season! The beauty of hog hunting is having so many options to choose from. My go-to methods: 1️⃣ Spot & Stalk - Hit those feeding areas early morning with good glass. Once you spot them, patience is everything for that perfect shot opportunity. 2️⃣ Baiting - Corn and molasses work like magic (where legal). Set up downwind and wait for them to come to you. 3️⃣ Stand/Blind Hunting - Found fresh hog sign? Set up nearby and let them come to you. Requires serious patience but pays off big time. 4️⃣ Dog Hunting - Training a hog dog is serious commitment, but nothing beats having a skilled pup track and corner these smart animals. Curious what method you swear by—or rotate between? #hunting #HogHunting #HuntingTips110Share
lolson+FollowWhat I’m doing this July to prep for fall hunt 🦌Been spending some time getting things in shape for fall, and July's been the perfect window for low-impact prep. Here’s what I’ve been working on: 1️⃣ Check food plots - Make sure they survived the heat or start planning backup plots if drought hit hard 2️⃣ Scout water sources - Find or create water holes while deer patterns are predictable in this heat 3️⃣ Boots-on-ground scouting - Low-impact time to find bedding areas and travel routes without spooking deer 4️⃣ Hang stands now - Perfect time to set up ambush spots while deer have plenty of cover to avoid you The key is connecting food sources to travel routes. If I can figure out how deer enter ag fields now, those patterns usually hold through early September. What's your July prep priority? Food plots or stand locations? #hunting #HuntingPrep #DeerHunting #OutdoorLife70Share
lolson+FollowSummer Hunting? Here's What's Still In Season🌞 Think hunting season's over? Think again! July can actually be prime time for certain species while keeping your skills sharp: 1️⃣ Coyotes - Most states allow year-round hunting. Perfect for protecting your property and staying practice-ready. Plus they're everywhere! 2️⃣ Wild hogs - Available year-round in many states. These destructive pests are challenging and fun to hunt. Great summer adventure if you're willing to travel. 3️⃣ Invasive species - Florida's got open season on iguanas! Sounds weird but it's actually a blast and helps the ecosystem. 4️⃣ Small game - Check your state regs, but crows, squirrels, and other small animals might be fair game. Perfect for training new hunters or practicing marksmanship. What are you chasing this summer? #hunting #SummerHunting #WildlifeControl #HuntingSeason397Share
bushjill+FollowHow do you prep your pheasants?Fellow hunters - do you skin or pluck your birds? I've been skinning for speed but wondering if I'm missing out on flavor by losing that crispy skin when roasted. #hunting #pheasanthunting #wildgamecooking22Share
mmoore+FollowFound turkey sign that screams "hunt here" 🦃Spent the weekend e-scouting with onX and hitting the woods to check potential spots. Here's what I'm looking for when turkey hunting: 1️⃣ Droppings - Gobblers leave 2-inch J-shaped droppings, hens make small piles 2️⃣ Tracks - Three-toed prints, but gobblers have longer middle toes 3️⃣ Scratching - Look for V-shaped marks near roost sites and fallen logs 4️⃣ Dust bowls - Shallow depressions where birds clean themselves The scratching around roost areas is usually the dead giveaway for me. Found some heavy activity near a creek bottom yesterday that looks promising for opening day. What turkey sign do you rely on most when scouting? #hunting #TurkeyHunting #HuntingSeason #TurkeyScout31Share
lolson+FollowHog behavior tips: hunt smarter, not harder 🐗Noticed some patterns while tracking hogs lately—figured I’d share. Sows and piglets usually move in groups (sounders), but those big solo roamers? Might be a mature boar worth tracking. Makes a difference when deciding how to set up. Anyone else noticed this in their hunts? #hunting #HogHunting #WildBoar #HuntingTips #SounderStrategy80Share
Manuel Bright+FollowI tried every hog hunting method this year 🐗After trying everything from blinds to baiting this past year, figured I'd share what's been working for me and what hasn't. 1️⃣ Spot and stalk in open areas - good binos are crucial for glassing before moving in 2️⃣ Corn baiting brings multiple hogs where it's legal, but they get wise fast 3️⃣ Stand hunting near wallows requires serious patience but produces consistently 4️⃣ Really considering hog dogs after seeing what my buddy's trained pack can do Seems like each method has its place depending on terrain and situation. What method has worked best for you? #hunting #hoghunting #wildboar #huntingdogs225Share
paulcarol+FollowWhen’s the best time to dig a deer waterhole? 💦🦌Put in my first waterhole this spring, right after a few days of rain. Soil was soft enough to dig without heavy equipment, and I figured the earlier the better so deer could find it before summer dried things out. I’ve noticed more movement near that area already, especially in the evenings. Hoping it’ll help build a more huntable pattern by early season. Curious—anyone else have success with waterholes? #hunting #DeerHunting #WildlifeManagement #HuntingPrep55Share
paulcarol+FollowWhy hunters love animals more than you think 🏹Ethical hunters do more than just hunt—we fund conservation, restore habitats, and pass down responsible practices. Groups like NWTF are proof we’re often the first to step up for wildlife. Thoughts? #hunting #HuntersForConservation #WildlifeProtection #EthicalHunting110Share
lolson+FollowWhen do you start scouting whitetails? 🦌Is spring too early or fall too late for deer scouting? Trying to get ahead of other hunters but not sure on timing. #hunting #whitetailscouting #deerhunting #huntingtips1610Share
