lolson+FollowHow I got coyotes to finally come in 🐺Been getting into coyote hunting more last season and wanted to share a few calling tips that have helped me see better results: 1️⃣ Start with locator howls to find them before switching to distress calls 2️⃣ Keep distress calls short - 15-30 second bursts with pauses, not constant noise 3️⃣ Position with wind at your back so they approach into your scent 4️⃣ Wait 20-30 minutes between sequences - patience beats overcalling every time Pup distress calls during spring have been incredibly effective when nothing else works. Used to call way too much and spook them. What's your go-to calling sequence that actually brings them in? #hunting #CoyoteHunting #PredatorCalling #HuntingTips297Share
bushjill+FollowWhy real hunters aim for heart & lung shots?Gut shots spoil the meat, headshots risk wounded animals running for miles. Heart and lung placement gives you clean kills, drops them in 20 yards, and preserves the meat. If you can't make a clean heart/lung shot consistently, you're not ready to hunt. Period. What's your take on shot placement ethics? #hunting #huntingtips #cleankills #huntingethics4932Share
mmoore+FollowAnyone actually made marmot taste decent?Shot my first marmot this weekend and holy crap, the smell hit me like a truck. Rancid doesn't even cover it. Before I toss this thing, has anyone figured out how to make these edible? Need serious cooking advice here. #hunting #marmothunting #MarmotCooking #gamemeat3539Share
Adam Parker+FollowI call bullshit 🤣 I kill several deer each while sitting next to a tree with my thermos of coffee eating my chicken biscuit. In jeans and a hoodie or a flannel. Next slide. #Hunting 146Share
paulcarol+FollowYour ears are better than your eyes for huntingBeen thinking about this lately during early sits—sometimes I swear my ears catch more than my eyes ever do. Just the other day I picked up a single twig snap from 50 yards away while daydreaming with my eyes closed. Anyone else rely more on sound than sight out there? #hunting #huntingtips #outdoors 715Share
hodebra+FollowSunday Hunting Freedom! PA Ban FINALLY Gone!Holy cow, Governor Shapiro just signed the bill - Pennsylvania's Sunday hunting ban is officially GONE! 🙌 As a PA hunter, I'm honestly pumped about this. We went from only 3 Sundays a year to potentially having Sunday hunting during most seasons (Game Commission gets to decide starting September). This is huge for those of us with crazy work schedules. Now I can actually take my kids out on weekends without burning vacation days. Plus with our deer population exploding and farmers losing crops, we need all the hunting pressure we can get. The bill runs for 5 years, so hopefully we prove Sunday hunting works and makes it permanent. Rep. Mandy Steele nailed it - this benefits hunters, farmers, AND forest health. Anyone else in PA excited about this? Which seasons are you hoping get Sunday approval first? #hunting #PennsylvaniaHunting #SundayHunting #deerseason01Share
tyler79+FollowMy buddy asked me which gun for elk huntBeen reorganizing my gear for the season and thought I’d share what calibers I keep reaching for, depending on what I’m hunting: 🦌 Whitetail: .308 Win is my bread and butter - dropped dozens of deer with it. .30-06 and .243 Win are also money. For brush hunting, .350 Legend is underrated. 🐿️ Squirrels: .22 LR for precision, 20 GA for fun 🐰 Rabbits: usually a 20 GA or .410 🐺 Coyotes: .223/5.56 - flat shooting and fur-friendly. 🦬 Elk: Don't mess around here. 300 Win Mag or 7mm Rem Mag will punch through those big shoulders. Curious what others are using—do you stick to one all-around rifle, or switch it up by species? #hunting #HuntingTips #HuntingCalibers19494Share
paulcarol+FollowMy wireless trail cam strategy during rut 📹Last November, I was checking my phone at work when I got a notification - massive 10-pointer cruising past my doe bedding setup at 2 PM! That's when I knew my wireless trail cam game was dialed in. Here's my mid-season setup that's been money for rut hunting: My go-to trail cam strategy: 1️⃣ Power up with solar panels - Nothing crushes your soul like dead batteries during peak rut. Solar keeps them running all season long. 2️⃣ Max out that SD card - I use the biggest card possible. You don't want to miss that buck of a lifetime because you ran out of storage. 3️⃣ Point cameras north - Game changer! Once leaves drop, this eliminates sun glare and gives you crystal clear images. It's like having the sun as your personal lighting crew. Focus on doe bedding areas during rut - that's where the magic happens. Bucks are cruising nonstop checking for hot does, and wireless cams let you monitor without disturbing the area. Anyone else doing the same? #hunting #HuntingTips #TrailCams #WhitetailRut160Share
Manuel Bright+FollowI tried 4 hog methods in Texas last weekJust got back from an epic hog hunt and wanted to share what's been working for me this season! The beauty of hog hunting is having so many options to choose from. My go-to methods: 1️⃣ Spot & Stalk - Hit those feeding areas early morning with good glass. Once you spot them, patience is everything for that perfect shot opportunity. 2️⃣ Baiting - Corn and molasses work like magic (where legal). Set up downwind and wait for them to come to you. 3️⃣ Stand/Blind Hunting - Found fresh hog sign? Set up nearby and let them come to you. Requires serious patience but pays off big time. 4️⃣ Dog Hunting - Training a hog dog is serious commitment, but nothing beats having a skilled pup track and corner these smart animals. Curious what method you swear by—or rotate between? #hunting #HogHunting #HuntingTips110Share
lolson+FollowWhat I’m doing this July to prep for fall hunt 🦌Been spending some time getting things in shape for fall, and July's been the perfect window for low-impact prep. Here’s what I’ve been working on: 1️⃣ Check food plots - Make sure they survived the heat or start planning backup plots if drought hit hard 2️⃣ Scout water sources - Find or create water holes while deer patterns are predictable in this heat 3️⃣ Boots-on-ground scouting - Low-impact time to find bedding areas and travel routes without spooking deer 4️⃣ Hang stands now - Perfect time to set up ambush spots while deer have plenty of cover to avoid you The key is connecting food sources to travel routes. If I can figure out how deer enter ag fields now, those patterns usually hold through early September. What's your July prep priority? Food plots or stand locations? #hunting #HuntingPrep #DeerHunting #OutdoorLife70Share
