tyler79+FollowMy $600 boots saved my Washington coyote huntLast December I was coyote hunting on a plateau in SE Washington when 50 mph winds hit with freezing rain. Walking 2 miles back in the dark, I realized my gear investments had paid off - I was perfectly comfortable while nature tried to destroy me. Real talk: You don't NEED much. Rifle, scope, ammo. You can wear surplus gear and save money. But there are 3 things I'll never cheap out on again: 1️⃣ Boots - Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 400s ($600). Get properly fitted at an orthopedic store. These kept my feet dry and warm in brutal conditions. 2️⃣ Headlamp - Fenix HM60R with rechargeable battery and red light. Pack two batteries and you're set for days. 3️⃣ Knives - Minimum 2, maximum sharp. I carry 3: camp knife (Leatherman Signal), skinner/gutter, and boning knife (Benchmade Tagged Out). Pro tip: get blaze orange handles - you'll thank me when you're field dressing in low light. Being miserable on a hunt is optional these days. You spend time and money getting out there - don't let cheap gear ruin it. What's your "never skimp" gear item? #hunting #HuntingGear #huntingboots #backcountryhunting208Share
lolson+FollowWore winter hunting boots in June - big mistake! 🥵Tried wearing my insulated winter boots on a summer scouting trip—huge mistake. My feet were cooked, soaked, and sore after just a few miles. That’s when I realized: summer hunting boots aren’t optional. Lightweight, breathable, and waterproof makes all the difference when you’re on your feet in the heat. What boots do you guys swear by for summer scouting or early-season hunts? #hunting #huntingboots #summerhunting #scouting #huntingfails21Share
tyler79+FollowFinally found the perfect summer hunting boots! 🥾After years hunting, I finally cracked the summer boot code. Trust me, your winter boots will destroy you in the heat: 1️⃣ Uninsulated & lightweight - learned this after nearly passing out in insulated boots during July scouting 2️⃣ Waterproof for morning dew - soggy socks ruin everything 3️⃣ Good ankle support since you're walking way more than just to your stand Pro tip: Get thinner socks too or your boots won't fit right! And if you're doing multi-day trips, bring a backup pair so they can dry out overnight. Nothing worse than putting on damp, funky boots at 5am. #hunting #summerhunting #huntingboots #huntinggeartips75Share
tyler79+FollowDon’t hunt in insulated boots - here's why 🥾After hunting elk all over the state, I'm convinced insulated boots are overrated. They're heavier, hotter, and you're stuck with them when temps rise. Go lightweight and uninsulated instead - just throw on thicker socks when it's cold. I've only needed insulated boots a couple times in years of hunting. Currently rocking Under Armour HOVR Dawn boots and they're perfect. Way more versatile than bulky insulated ones! What's your boot preference - insulated or uninsulated? #hunting #elkhuntingtips #bootrecommendation #huntingboots3116Share
