Eric Ford+Followthis guy's diy hunting shack has me jealousJust watched this hunter build his own mountain hunting shack with zero construction background. Pure trial and error plus help from his kids made it happen. Total cost? Under $5k! Looks absolutely perfect - surrounded by trees, peaceful as can be. I can already picture myself unwinding there during hunting season, no cell service, just the woods and wildlife. Makes me want to start planning my own little getaway spot. Anyone else dream about having their own hunting retreat? #hunting #huntingcabin #DIY #huntingdreams #outdoors1649Share
tyler79+FollowStop overthinking cartridges and just go hunt 🏹Tired of seeing endless "Is my 6.5 good enough?" posts. Our ancestors dropped everything from deer to bears with basic .22s and old fowling pieces. The Swiss used 6.5x55 for elephants, Appalachian folks trusted their Vetterelli for bears, and northern tribes took polar bears with .22 Hornets. The sporting press keeps moving goalposts on what's "acceptable" to sell more gear. Truth is, most North American game falls to anything from .22 LR to .30-30 with proper shot placement. Your grandfather's deer rifle will work just fine. Practice matters more than ballistics charts. What's the oldest cartridge you've successfully hunted with? #Hunting #VintageCartridges #DeerHunting #Outdoors 9058Share
fisherchad+Followfishing isn't about catching, it's about beingWent out this morning with just a light rod, some worms, and a folding chair. No pressure, no fancy gear—just soaking in the view and enjoying the quiet. For me, fishing’s more about the peace than the catch. Anyone else feel the same way? #fishing #outdoors18727Share
Manuel Bright+Followold hunters smoked pipes for a reasonGuilty of lighting up a backwoods before morning hunts, and elk don't seem to care. Always sit around smokey campfires in my hunting clothes too. Last year a buck literally walked up and woke me from my nap under an oak tree - ten yards away! He smelled something and was curious, just didn't think it was human until I made noise. Smoke might not spook them like we think? #hunting #deerhunting #huntinglife #Outdoors 19589Share
paulcarol+FollowMy kaibab hunt was a comedy of errors 💩Drew that coveted late hunt tag back in '03 and everything went sideways. Day one, passed on a gorgeous 4x4 thinking I'd find better. Spoiler alert: I didn't. Then our makeshift camp toilet collapsed mid-business. Fell right into my own mess 😅 Took an entire roll of TP to recover my dignity. Next morning brought 18 inches of fresh snow and my boot sole completely separated, flooding my foot with slush. Spent three days hunting in sneakers. Final day, same buck reappeared at 409 yards. Missed low. Tag soup for dinner. Sometimes the hunting gods humble you real quick. What's your most disaster-filled hunt? 🤦♂️ #hunting #kaibabhunt #huntingfails #Outdoors 3313Share
fisherchad+FollowNational parks = hidden fishing goldminesLast summer I stumbled into Yellowstone thinking it was all about geysers and tourists. Boy was I wrong. Ended up having the best cutthroat fishing of my life on the Firehole River while dodging bison on my backcast. Turns out our national parks are fishing paradise that most people completely overlook: 🌲 Yellowstone - Native cutthroat plus you're encouraged to keep invasive lake trout 🐟 Glacier - Crystal clear waters with native westslope cutties 🌊 Great Smoky Mountains - 2,900 miles of streams with native brookies 🏔️ Katmai - Fish for salmon while brown bears watch from 50 yards away 💦 Voyageurs - 40% water with incredible walleye and pike The regulations can be tricky though - some parks don't require state licenses but have stricter rules on bait and tackle. Always check before you go. Most visitors never leave their car. We get to actually participate in these sacred places. Which national park gave you your most unforgettable fishing memory? #fishing #NationalParkFishing #Anglers #Outdoors 30Share
kdiaz+FollowWhy don’t more people eat bass?Tons of folks love catching bass, but not eating them—why is that? I’ve tried it, and it’s... okay, but not amazing. Curious what others think. Is it taste, texture, or just tradition? #fishing #bassfishing #catchandrelease #Outdoors 426688Share
tyler79+FollowWhy my knife matters more than my gunIt took me a few seasons to realize my hunting knife is just as important as any tag or rifle. From clean field dressing to cutting rope or even making camp lunch—your blade does way more than you think. Precision and durability matter when you’ve got meat on the line. If your knife can’t hold an edge, you’re in for a frustrating time. Got a go-to knife you swear by? #hunting #outdoors ##huntingknife #huntinggear672310Share
Manuel Bright+FollowOops, I probably created some anti-hunters 😬Took my buddy hunting last weekend - he got his second deer ever, a beautiful doe! But here's where I messed up... Went to the car wash the next day to clean deer blood out of my truck bed. Workers peeked over, saw the blood, and their faces went from curious to horrified real quick. I let them stew for a bit before gruffly saying "deer blood." Manager was still shaken but let me through. Made me realize: messing with nonhunters might be funny, but it sure doesn’t help the image of hunters. Lesson learned—next time, I’ll keep the mess (and the jokes) out of town. #hunting #deerhunting #Outdoors 7651334Share
ChillVibesOnly+FollowHelp Needed: Choosing an Osprey BackpackDaylight 20 or Hacker 18? 🤔 The Daylight has more compartments and can fit more stuff. The Hacker has fewer compartments, but it can still hold enough. The Hacker looks better, but doesn’t really feel suitable for commuting. The Daylight isn’t as stylish as the Hacker, but it’s more practical for commuting. Plus, the Daylight comes with a headscarf and a thermos. Since commuting takes up more time than outdoor use… #Outdoors #WorkLife #BackpackingUSA #BagLover #NeedHelp 10Share
