This graduation piece by a Chinese student left me utterly stunned!

My Chinese friend showed me this painting, and I never expected it to be the graduation piece of a Chinese student. My friend told me the painting is called “Prayer.” Unlike the peaceful prayer of the Virgin Mary, this student has blended religious consumerism, humanity, desire, and more into this painting, yet strangely, it doesn't feel out of place. Bauman spent his life analyzing why people remain poor in the age of consumerism and the logical traps between work ethics and consumerism. The author of “Prayer,” Anqi, found a good entry point from Bauman: “By densely piling up cheap materials, she deconstructs the falseness of ‘refined living’ and exposes the essence of ‘objectification’ in a consumer society: when we pursue ‘perfection,’ we actually become fake people defined by data.” The moment I felt this painting was most complete was when I saw a crowd of people rushing forward (the last image), trying to squeeze to the front of the line to take a photo of the painting everyone else was photographing. At that point, the painting's expression was complete. #Entertainment#Painting#Blind#Follow#Prayer
