When 'Work-Life Balance' Means No Kids on Camera? 🤔
I've been a senior remote employee for a few months now, juggling early mornings and late nights. My routine is wild—I start at 6:30AM, wrap up around 9PM, and still manage to drop my kids off at school midday. Last week, my wife was out of town, so during my usual 8:30PM leadership call, I let my 5-year-old daughter quietly sit in my office with a tablet. She peeked over my shoulder for two seconds—no chaos, no noise, just a curious kid.
On Friday, HR called me to say the CEO was upset about my daughter’s brief cameo and wanted me to work from a WeWork from now on. I said no, and now the company is rethinking their stance, but honestly, I’m not sure I can stay. Am I overreacting, or is this a red flag for remote work culture? Has anyone else faced something like this? I could really use some advice. 😟
