John Starkey’s death a couple of days ago was just the most senseless thing. I didn’t know him personally, but I’d met his son a few times — Puddle of Mudd fame. Road‑rage deaths might be the most senseless of all. I don’t understand why people get so angry, thinking they have to kill someone over a traffic incident. It’s just tragic. I read the man who did it turned himself in, so at least there’s no mystery. Just the agony of a family losing someone, and a man who will be deeply missed in his community and the Jacksonville music scene.
