why i stopped trusting snaptravel for hotel bookings
Last weekend, my husband and I finally took a trip to the coast—something we’d been looking forward to for months. We found what looked like a great deal on SnapTravel, so we booked a room at a hotel we’d stayed at before. We even got a confirmation text and thought we were all set. But when we showed up, the front desk had no record of our reservation. The lobby was packed with other travelers, and I overheard at least two other couples arguing with the staff about the same thing—booked and paid through SnapTravel, but no room in the system. The poor front desk clerk looked exhausted, saying this happens more often than you’d think.
I get that sometimes these third-party sites offer tempting prices, but is it really worth the risk of showing up and having nowhere to sleep? I’m curious—has anyone else had this happen with SnapTravel or other booking sites? We ended up scrambling to find another hotel, and honestly, the stress almost ruined our trip. I can’t help but wonder if the small savings are worth the headache, especially when you’re not as young as you used to be and just want things to go smoothly. It feels like these sites are more trouble than they’re worth, but maybe I’m missing something?
