My Summer Fling Stories Are Insane. This One With a Guy in France Is My Favorite.

I think I'm slightly addicted to summer flings. Every summer, I travel and meet someone, and it's like a crazy, electric bubble forms that only includes the two of us. One of my most memorable summer flings was with a guy I met in France. He had been with the same girl for 12 years. He asked me for a cigarette, we started talking, and we were instantly inseparable. We knew we wouldn't be able to stop ourselves if we even brushed hands. So, 45 minutes into the conversation, we made a pact never to touch each other. I was leaving in a week. We spent the entire time not touching at all, just wandering and talking until dawn. We barely slept. He had a hammock that he'd read to me in while I slept for a few hours. Then I'd wake up and make coffee while he slept. It was all about the connection, not the physical part. I have so many of these stories. Like the time I met a guy at Comic-Con and we ended up sleeping on the doorstep of my hostel because he couldn't get in. Summer flings for me are the most intense relationship possible. They're so pure and beautiful that it almost feels like it didn't happen to me. #SummerMemory #SummerFling #TravelStories #RelationshipGoals #MakingMemories #LifeLessons #SituationShips

This past summer, I realized all our "cringe" trends are back. I told you so.

They used to make fun of us for being old-fashioned, for our skinny jeans, and for remembering a time before email. They called us cringe for loving the stuff we did. But now, they’re doing it all! Seriously, this summer I’m seeing: Big Hair: It's back, and it's everywhere. Just look at Dolly Parton or Beyoncé. 'Sex and the City': Young people are binging it and living their best Carrie Bradshaw fantasies. Wired Headphones: Yes, with all the Bluetooth options, they're choosing wired. Physical Media: Kids are digging through thrift store bins for DVDs and CDs. JNCO Jeans: JNCOs were huge in a lot of subcultures in the '90s but got mocked and disappeared once skinny jeans took over. Now, they've made a full comeback with Gen Z. It's honestly pretty funny to watch. We just went through all of this already. I guess we were just ahead of our time. It feels good to be vindicated this summer. #SummerMemory #GenZ #Millennial #Y2KFashion #Throwback #INeverStopped #Cringe #TrendCycles
