3 Things Teachers Secretly Wish Parents Knew to Support Their Kids

Ever wonder what teachers wish parents understood most? After chatting with a few friends who teach, I realized how much of a difference it makes when parents are involved in small but meaningful ways. First, teachers hope parents know that consistent routines at home help kids feel secure and ready to learn. Second, open communication—sharing concerns or changes at home—can help teachers support your child better. Lastly, teachers wish parents would encourage a love of learning, not just focus on grades. I remember when my son’s teacher thanked me for simply asking about his day and showing interest in his projects. It really does make a difference! What’s something you wish you knew sooner about supporting your child’s education? Share your thoughts below! #ParentingHacks #TeacherTips #FamilyLife #Lifehacks

Is a Vimeo Watermark on calTPA Videos a Dealbreaker? 🎥🤔

Let me share a little secret from my own teaching journey: when I was preparing my calTPA video clips, I found myself tangled in the web of watermarks. Specifically, those from Vimeo. I wondered, would a watermark sabotage my submission, or would the reviewers even notice? After digging through official guidelines and swapping stories with fellow educators, I realized the answer isn’t as black-and-white as we’d hope. Some say minor watermarks are fine as long as they don’t obscure student interactions or learning evidence. Others warn that any distraction could raise eyebrows. So, what’s your experience? Have you submitted videos with watermarks? Did it affect your results? Drop your wisdom below, and let’s clear up this mystery together! Maybe we’ll even spark a debate or two. 😉 Let’s crowdsource the best solutions—should we risk it, or is it time to find a watermark-free workaround? #calTPA #TeacherTips #EducationResources #Education

“That Time I Forgot My Homework”: A Student’s Guide To Surviving The Morning After

Last week, I hit snooze one too many times, rushed out the door, and halfway to school realized my math homework was still sitting on my desk at home. We’ve ALL been there! That moment of panic when you realize your assignment isn’t in your backpack can feel like the end of the world, but I’ve learned a thing or two about handling these situations. While it’s always best to have your homework done and ready to turn in, sometimes life happens! Here’s what I’ve discovered works (and what definitely doesn’t): The most effective approach? Simply being honest. That time I told my English teacher I was overwhelmed with three tests and couldn’t finish the essay? She actually gave me a one-day extension because I approached her BEFORE class started and took responsibility. What doesn’t work? Those elaborate “my dog ate my homework” excuses or damaging your assignment to make it look like an accident happened. Most teachers have heard it ALL before! #StudentLife #HomeworkProblems #TeacherTips #SchoolHacks

TEACHER CREATING GOOD TRANSITIONS IN THE CLASSROOM

As a teacher, transitioning in and out of the classroom or between subjects can be challenging at times! Here are some things that I use that my kids love AND makes life easier for me!!🫶🏼 ✨Calming time: Every time we come back to the classroom from lunch, recess, specials, or anything else, we take 3 minutes to sit silently and calm our bodies and mind. This works wonders and kids look forward to it. This is a great trauma informed practice as well! ✨TRANSITION TIC-TAC-TOE: kids love to be competitive and play games so why not turn transitions into a game?? If students transition with a 0 voice, follow all of the directions, and are all in their seats by the time I say, they get a letter! It’s motivating and fun! ✨DOORBELL: this is a great way to get you students attention and you can use the sound for transition time as well! ✨last one is a classic! Just count down from 10 and give directions in between your numbers! Example: “ I need you in your seats in 10, voices off in 9, books out in 8….” Trust me, smooth transitions will make your life easier and save you time!!! Do you guys use anything else you like for transitions? #teachertips #teacher #classroommanagement #teachersfollowteachers #tips #classroom #classroomideas
